Matt Cooper
British Photographer

Matt Cooper is a London-born photographer known for his cinematic use of colour, light and composition to create striking, emotionally charged imagery.

Originally trained as an actor and theatre director, Matt spent his early career on and around the stage. This background in performance, storytelling and blocking deeply informs his visual work: his photographs often feel like stills from an unwritten film, charged with atmosphere, tension and narrative possibility.

In 2010, Matt picked up a camera for the first time and immediately recognised it as his true medium. Bringing a director’s eye to photography, he combines modern camera techniques with a classic sense of composition. His work is characterised by bold yet controlled colour, strong graphic lines and a meticulous attention to detail in framing.

Over the past decade, Matt has been creating artwork across London, developing a body of work. Now based in Bangkok, he continues to explore the relationship between people and place, drawing on the city’s vivid light and cultural riches.

Whether working on personal projects or commissioned pieces, Matt approaches every image with the discipline of a director and the curiosity of a storyteller, crafting photographs that are both visually powerful and emotionally resonant.
